Republic, and since the 19th century instead of frequent tourist trips. The name of the Hukvaldy Castle is derived from the name of the Rhine Count Hückeswagen, whose member Arnold sometimes received between 1228 and 1235 the castle Jičín / today's Starý Jičín / with extensive territory. But the founder of Hukvaldy Castle was probably Arnold's grandson Henry. Soon after its establishment, Hukvaldy became part of the property of the Bishops of Olomouc. In addition to the fortress character, the castle was also important as the administrative seat of a large estate. When the rooms and offices were transferred from the castle to the relocated in 1760, Hukvaldy's castle began to change in ruins, which were mainly used as a cheap source of building stone. The new use of the castle began in the 19th century with the development of "tourism". The great interest of the people in the castle has led to efforts to preserve this memorial for the next generation and to use it as a center of cultural life, which has also been achieved. The most known personality associated with the Hukvaldy Castle was the composer Leoš Janáček.The admission during usual opening hours is following unless otherwise provided.
